Vignamaggio: A Renaissance Estate Reimagined

Tucked between the rolling hills of Florence and Siena, where cypress trees line winding roads and vineyards ripple toward the horizon, lies a place where the past and present meet in perfect harmony: Il Borgo di Vignamaggio.

This historic estate, with over 600 years of heritage, has evolved into one of Tuscany’s most enchanting destinations – a celebration of beauty, tradition, and refined festivity.

A legacy of elegance

Vignamaggio’s roots run deep. Over the centuries, its grounds have hosted medieval commanders, visionary artists, noble families, and famed intellectuals. The estate’s former owner, Count Bino Sanminiatelli, was renowned for hosting dazzling soirées that drew royalty, creatives, and luminaries of 20th-century society to Chianti. That legacy of celebration lives on today – elevated, refined, and reimagined.

The rebirth of Il Borgo

In 2015, the team behind Vignamaggio undertook a bold restoration project, breathing life back into Vitigliano di Sopra, a once-abandoned villa. Over seven years, ivy was peeled from walls, pigeons politely shown the door, and a vision took shape: a destination dedicated entirely to the art of celebration.

The result is Il Borgo, an elegant blend of timeless charm and contemporary design where every detail, from hand-crafted Tuscan furniture to the scent of cypress in the air, speaks to a deep reverence for craftsmanship and comfort. Collaborations with renowned Italian designers like Viabizzuno, Davide Groppi, and Baxter ensure that each room – and every celebration – feels both luxurious and personal.

A dream setting for gatherings

Whether it’s an intimate wedding, a grand celebration, or a soulful retreat, Il Borgo offers a setting that feels both cinematic and deeply rooted in nature. The estate can host up to 300 guests, with 17 double rooms and an 8-person dormitory, plus additional accommodations in nearby villas for up to 104 guests.

Event spaces include:

  • The Dancing Hall with its own cocktail bar
  • A sunlit banquet hall and auditorium
  • Multiple outdoor areas for ceremonies and dinners: La Piazza, La Pergola, La Corte, and Il Frutteto
  • A panoramic swimming pool and Ridolfi Pool Bar
  • La Fornace, a pizza oven space perfect for rustic-chic gatherings

Every corner of the estate – from the frescoed breakfast room to the open-air terraces – has been designed to foster joy, connection, and unforgettable memories.

The art of La Dolce Vita

More than a venue, Il Borgo is a feeling: that rare, suspended moment when time slows, laughter echoes through the vineyards, and every detail is taken care of. The team behind the estate ensures a stress-free, tailored experience, allowing guests to simply revel in the moment and bask in the estate’s serene, sun-dappled charm.

At Vignamaggio, luxury isn’t loud – it’s in the warm colours, the subtle details, the hush of the olive trees. And above all, it’s in the ease with which the estate welcomes you into its story.
